Ciclovia Dei Castelli (The Route of the Castles) begins symbolically in the historic centre of Pontremoli. Departure from the Medieval Bridge of Cresa, where you will find a maintenance point. Continue cycling along the tree-lined road of Chiosi, which during the months of spring the trees blossom, creating an explosion of pink colour.
Cross the arch and the bridge, passing in front of the splendid Villa Dosi Delfini, a magnificent example of Pontremolese Baroque art.
Following the signs of the cycle path, climb the hill where the Piagnaro Castle is located, home to the beautiful Museum of Lunigiana Stele Statues.
Descend to Piazza del Duomo and cross the historic city centre also passing through Piazza della Repubblica, where you will find the Palazzo Pavesi-Ruschi Noceti and the Palazzo Dosi Magnavacca are located. Both are important historic houses in Pontremoli.
Continue cycling on the ancient pavement until you exit the ancient village from “Porta Fiorentina”. Leaving the door, cross the bridge and take the dirt path along the river for a short distance, then cross the main road and follow the path that runs alongside it until you reach the Annunziata locality, where the Church of the Santissima Annunziata is located.
Cycle for a few kilometres on the asphalt until you enter the municipality of Filattiera, on the cycle path.
