Villafranca in Lunigiana Route
Leaving the village of Filattiera along the tree-lined avenue, following the signs for the village of Bagnone, crossing for a few kilometres the plain of Mocrone, in the municipality of Villafranca.
From the stone arch on the road to Bagnone, follow the paved road. On the left you can admire on the hill the village of Malgrate with the Castle of Malgrate, open to visitors in accordance to the timetable on the website of the Istituto Valorizzazione Castelli.
Continue until you enter the village of Bagnone and once you have completed the ring inside the historic village you will emerge again in the municipality of Villafranca. This time towards the ancient village of Virgoletta, with its stone houses, fountains, the Bagnone stream and a beautiful playground.
The ride continues on a paved road leaving the Apennines behind, arriving in the ancient village of Villafranca, across the ancient bridge, to the other side, where the Ethnographic Museum of Lunigiana can be found.
Cross the medieval village of Villafranca in Lunigiana and you will arrive at what remains of the Castle of Malnido and the monument dedicated to Dante, who resided here.
Continue towards the bed of the river Magra on a dirt path and then cross the river and enter the municipality of Mulazzo.
