Every year, on the second Sunday of July, the Feast of Our Lady of Health is celebrated in remembrance of the 1853 cholera epidemic, during which the community of Albiano was spared through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. Town Hall: History and Revolution
The Town Hall of Albiano is linked to a historical anecdote involving Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany. In July 1789, during a visit to the village, the Grand Duke stayed in this very building—right at the height of the French Revolution. He is remembered for issuing the ‘Leopoldine Code,’ which abolished the death penalty, making the Grand Duchy of Tuscany the first state in the world to take such a step. Every year, on November 30th, Tuscany Day is celebrated in honor of this significant historical event.
