Travel curiosities
In the small village of Apella, Anacarsi Nardi was born in the 1800s. He was an Italian patriot who, in 1844, along with the Bandiera brothers, embarked on the expedition to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. In his honor, the municipality of Licciana officially added the name “Nardi” to the town, in tribute to the patriot born in Apella.
The medieval tower of the village of Apella, probably dating back to the year 1000, was renovated in recent years and now houses the beautiful Agriturismo Montagna Verde. It was built to guard the Taverone valley along the important Via del Sale, which during the Middle Ages connected the coastal regions to northern Italy.
