Borgo di Torsana

The highest village in all of Lunigiana.

The village of Torsana is located at an altitude of 935 meters, in a breathtaking setting within the municipality of Comano. This small medieval village appears to be suspended beneath the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, to which it officially belongs, along with the nearby village of Camporaghena.

Almost completely uninhabited in recent years, especially during the winter, the village of Torsana is now experiencing a significant revitalization and repopulation as part of an important redevelopment effort.

The area surrounding the village of Torsana is characterized by forests and vast meadows, with a rich undergrowth. Mushrooms and chestnuts reign supreme here.

A unique village where history and the art of sculpture can still be felt today while walking through its small streets. Decorated architraves and portals, coats of arms, and the distinctive faciòn, ancient carved faces placed above house entrances to ward off evil spirits, are a testament to its rich heritage.

The repopulation of Torsana in recent years is likely due to the rediscovery of slow and sustainable tourism, where a life immersed in nature has attracted new residents. We at Lunigiana World hope that this trend continues, always with respect for the history and traditions of Lunigiana.
