Ruins of the Malnido Castle, where Dante stayed.

The beautiful and rarely visited village of Villafranca houses the ruins of what was once the magnificent Malnido Castle, which was largely destroyed during the bombings of World War II due to its proximity to the railway. Today, right below the castle, stands a monument to Dante, erected by the city in memory of the poet.
Near the castle is the Ethnographic Museum of Lunigiana.
