One of the largest and deepest pools in Lunigiana
Lake Cept, hidden among the chestnut woods of the Bagnone Valleys. Once you reach the village of Bagnone, follow the signs for Treschietto/Iera. When you spot the road sign for Iera, about 100 meters before it you’ll find an unpaved path on your right, this is where your walk begins. The first two minutes take you through denser vegetation, then you’ll arrive in an open meadow. The path is easy to follow: you’ll pass a power pole, and then, turning left, you’ll enter a chestnut forest.
From here, we start following the red marks on the trees. After about two minutes of walking through the chestnut trees, the short downhill stretch begins, leading us to discover this magical corner of Lunigiana. The descent isn’t particularly difficult, though there’s a short, slightly exposed section, just keep following the clearly visible red marks along the path. After about ten minutes, you’ll find yourself right above Lake Cept; if you decide to go down, be extremely careful, as the type of rock here is fragile and especially slippery.
